There are a number of smaller and less frequented climbing areas spread throughout other regions of Victoria. CSV acknowledges the Traditional Owners of these regions and their ongoing connections with them. Although CSV is not currently active in these areas, we welcome any input or enquiry from Traditional Owners or climbers on climbing in their region.
Traditional Owners and Climbing Areas
Gunaikurnai people are the Traditional Owners of much of Gippsland and are represented by the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Council Aboriginal Corporation: https://gunaikurnai.org
There are several wild and remote climbing areas in this region that are not heavily frequented, including Nielson Crags (Alpine national Park), Mushroom Rocks (Mt Erica), Buchan and Point Hicks.
Bunurong people in the Western Port Bay district are represented by the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation: https://www.bunuronglc.org
Minor climbing areas in Bunurong country include Lysterfield Boulders and Cape Woolamai which is currently closed to climbing.
Wilsons Promontory is a significant place to both the Bunurong and Gunaikurnai as well as the Boonwurrung Land And Sea Council. Currently there is no formal recognition in place. The Wilsons Promontory National Park is managed by Parks Victoria
